How to get to Kiel, Germany

Our all vegan summer cruise 2019 departs from Kiel, Germany.
You can reach Kiel easily…

By Air

By air, Kiel can be reached best via the international airport in Hamburg (code: HAM, and by taking a Vegan Travel transfer bus from the airport to Kiel cruise port (on departure day).

Arriving earlier? The “Kielius” bus leaves the airport at Terminal 1, Section B of the bus terminal – approximately once every hour. It reaches Kiel main bus station (= Kiel ZOB) after a driving time of 90 min. (with a short intermediate stop after 50 min. in the city Neumünster).
Tickets can be purchased in the bus (19 € one way). Please be aware that payment by credit card is not possible. You need to bring money in cash (there are several possibilities at the airport to change money).

By Train

Kiel main station is located directly in the city center, only a few meters away from the cruise terminals, main bus station and the central taxi station.

Unless you are arriving from the north (Flensburg/Denmark), you are very likely to travel via Hamburg, maybe even changing trains there. From Hamburg, trains leave for Kiel at least once an hour (until about midnight). For train timetables – including connections from many European countries to Kiel – and online reservations, please check the German rail operator “Deutsche Bahn” website. When searching for connections, your destination is “Kiel Hbf” or “Kiel Main Station”.

By Ferry

Kiel can also be reached by Sea. Ferries connect Oslo (Norway) as well as Gothenburg (Sweden) and Kiel on a daily basis.

Taking the ferry from…

Oslo, the Colorline cruise ferry leaves Oslo at 14:00 pm and docks at the Kiel ferry port “Norwegenkai” at 10:00 am on the next morning.
Gothenburg, the Stenaline leaves at 19:00 pm and docks at Kiel “Schwedenkai” at 09:00 am on the next morning. The “Schwedenkai“ is located close to the center of Kiel.
