06 AUG 22 Invergordon IN4 – Invergordon Walking Tour

Take a relaxing guided stroll around the small town of Invergordon, passing the “Off the Wall” murals and stunning scenery from Invergordon Golf Club and the Cromarty Firth shoreline. A mainly flat circular route passes many interpretative panels and monuments depicting the history of Invergordon & Saltburn.
Then visit the Invergordon Naval Museum and Heritage Centre, a small local history museum run by the community and opened by volunteers, occupying the old British Legion dance hall in Invergordon town centre.

Since the original opening in 2004, funding has been obtained for four displays which were created to show: the story of the Invergordon Mutiny; the sinking of the navy cruiser HMS Natal in the Cromarty Firth in 1915; the development of the port of Invergordon through the years; and also a vast display of medical equipment that was used in the old naval hospital.

The artworks within the collection relate to these subjects. A distinctive mural (part of the Invergordon mural trail) on the outside of the museum shows the history and development of Invergordon and the Cromarty Firth.
