12 AUG 2022 – Walking Tour through inspiring Reykjavik + Whale Watching
At 6AM our ship docks in Reykjavik. After breakfast on board, disembark the ship for a guided walking tour through this inspiring city. Then check in at our partner hotel and enjoy some free time. Later in the afternoon, we will meet and take you to a one hour whale watching tour, hoping we are lucky enough to see incredible marine wildlife. The best time of the year to see whales around Iceland is from April to October with the peak season in June, July and August.
In the evening enjoy a delicious vegan group dinner.
13 AUG 2022 – Golden Circle of Reykjavik
Enjoy a breakfast buffet with vegan options at your hotel. Afterwards depart for the 45 minutes picturesque drive to beautiful Thingvellir National Park – an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your visit to the Park allows you to experience one of Iceland’s most outstanding sceneries. The area is surrounded by mountains and encompasses a vast lava plain of green moss and wild flowers. Leaving Thingvellir you continue to the Geysir hot spring area. Here you will be surrounded by hissing springs and other geothermal phenomena.
After lunch (either in a local restaurant or a lunch box), continue your drive to Gullfoss Waterfall. The “Golden Waterfall” is the most famous of the country’s many waterfalls where the river Hvita drops 96 feet into two falls, creating an awesome spectacle. Continue on to the Kerid Crater. Iceland is dotted with volcanic craters; Kerid is one of the more dramatic ones. Created by an explosion followed by implosion of its cone, it now has a lake at its bottom.
Have a relaxing time at the world-famous Blue Lagoon natural geothermal spa located in the middle of a beautiful lava field. The water of the lagoon is 37-39 degrees centigrade (98 – 102 Fahrenheit), mineral rich and reputed for its healing properties. The blue color and the high lava wall surrounding the Lagoon create a very unique atmosphere.
For hygienic purposes, it is expected (in line with local customs) to take a shower without swimwear before entering the Lagoon.
In the evening, vegan group dinner.
