Puerto Natales is a small village located at the coast of the Fjord of Last Hope. It is of main interest as starting point for excursions to the sensational National Park Torres del Paine.
Dinner and overnight at the fine 4* Altoplanito Hotel.
|Day 02 – 21 April 2020||Puerto Natales|

– Excursion to the national park Torres del Paine (including Cueva de Milodon (8h)
Today you are going to see one of the most spectacular scenic regions, nowhere found in the world, the Torres del Paine National Park! It covers an area of 113.000ha and was declared Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 1978. Cascading waterfalls, roaring creeks, shimmering lakes and jagged spires of mountains are just a part of what Paine offers. The road you take borders majestic lakes. On this tour, you will visit the viewpoints Los Cuernos and Lago Pehoe, the spectacular Salto Grande (“Big Waterfall”) the Administration of the Park (Conaf) and the viewpoint Lago Grey, which allows a marvelous view on the Grey Glacier. Have a glimpse of the park’s fauna seeing herds of guanacos, foxes, swans, and several small-sized birds.
Cueva del Milodón
En route, you will visit the legendary Milodón Cave. In this impressive natural cave, a gigantic prehistoric fossil has been discovered. You will encounter a replica inside of the cave.
Dinner in Puerto Natales and overnight at your hotel.
|Day 03 – 22 April 2020||Puerto Natales|
– Meals: Buffet breakfast, transfer to the airport in Punta Arenas (for those departing today)
– For all others: Navigation to the glaciers Serrano and Balmaceda & transfer to Paine (9h)
– Transfer hotel – pier – hotel
Today you will enjoy a full day boat trip on Seno Ultima Esperanza (“Fjord of the last hope”) visiting the spectacular glaciers of Serrano and Balmaceda. See the incomparable landscape of Bernardo O’Higgins National Park, Chile’s biggest natural reserve with a majestic mountain scenery. Arriving at the end of the fjord, you disembark and do a hiking through unspoiled cold rain forest to the foot of the Serrano Glacier. Enjoy the beautiful views and landscapes!
Then we split the participants into groups and by zodiac you continue your adventurous trip via Rio Serrano to the Torres del Paine National Park. Passing the southern ice field (Campo de Hielo Sur) you will learn more about the flora of the remote area. En route you will enjoy a hike to a magnificent viewpoint, and board another boat followed by arrival to the Paine National Park.
**Remark: The excursion is possibly shared with international travelers and accompanied by an English and speaking guide.
This excursion may be replaced by the visit of the Nañdu Park if boats are not operating.
Physical demand: Soft walk visiting the Serrano Glacier on a rocky and sandy path bordering the lake.
Overnight at the Hotel, where dinner is served tonight.
