Explore the defining iconic landmarks of Rio de Janeiro and then fly to Manaus to enjoy your all-vegan Amazon cruise.
Please note: This Vegan Travel pre-cruise program requires an extensive amount of walking, at times over for approximately two miles (about 3.2 kilometres), over uneven, rocky, sandy, slippery, and/or natural surfaces and inclines, with many steps at the sites visited.

Day 1
Upon arrival in Rio de Janeiro, you will be met and transferred to the Miramar Hotel by Windsor Copacabana. The remainder of the day at your leisure and at night we meet at 6pm in the hotel lobby for a Caipirinha followed by dinner.

Today you will see why Rio is considered one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world. The key natural elements, the Tijuca rainforest, the Guanabara Bay and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, have shaped the development of the city and inspired the Carioca culture. Through this full-day tour with a local guide, you will better appreciate the natural beauty of Rio and the Cariocas.
Following breakfast begin by visiting the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the ‘new’ Seven Wonders of the World. From the top of Corcovado Mountain, the views are breathtaking. You will understand why the natural landscape of the city is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Afterwards, you will stop for lunch at a vegan or vegan friendly restaurant. The tour will then continue to the Urca district, where you will rise 396 meters (1,300 feet) to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car, while enjoying awe-inspiring views of the harbor below.
Please note: Expect delays and long lines at the Corcovado Train Station. Please be advised that the mountain is frequently enshrouded by clouds, which may affect views of the city. It is highly recommended that guests wear flat, comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes.
In the evening we will drive to the trendy Santa Teresa district for dinner. After dinner, return to your hotel.

Following breakfast and check out, meet your guide and take a drive downtown for another intriguing tour of Rio. Today, you will see its beautiful buildings dating from colonial and Imperial days sharing space with the very modern architecture of the Brazilians Oscar Niemeyer, Afonso Reidy and many others. Adding to this group of masters, is the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava who designed the neo-futuristic building Museu do Amanhã, (Tomorrow´s Museum).
Your tour includes visits to the modern Catholic Cathedral, the ancient and gorgeous Saint Bento Monastery as well as The Tomorrow’s Museum. You will also see the Opera House, the Fine Arts Museum and the National Library. Lunch at a local vegan restaurant.
Back at your hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure for you to explore as you wish.

Day 4
Upon arrival in Manaus in the early morning, you will be transferred to our very good 4 or 5* partner hotel. After a good rest, enjoy the breakfast buffet with vegan options at the hotel and get then ready for your Amazon adventure.
You might find that Manaus, the capital of the vast state of Amazonas, has a fascinating contradictory feel; it is a city in the middle of a jungle, and despite its size, it is only accessible in a practical sense by boat or plane. And though seafaring vessels dock here, the ocean is 900 miles away.
Get acquainted with the largest city in the Amazon basin during an included tour that features the Teatro Amazonas, or Amazon Theatre. This stunning vision in pink — opened in 1896 at the height of the rubber barons’ prosperity — was built with European bricks, French glass, and Italian marble. If you’re in the market for exotic fruits, Amazon herbal medicines, and local handicrafts, you’ll love rubbing elbows with the people of Manaus during a visit to the Mercado Adolpho Lisboa. Fashioned after the Les Halles market of Paris in 1882, it is the city’s oldest market and a scintillating way to immerse yourself in the culture.
Conclude your tour with a welcome aboard lunch on your vegan floating hotel, the beautiful MS Jangada, your home sweet home for the next 11 nights.
